Jobs for Florida’s Graduates (JFG), an affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), is a school to career program consisting of a comprehensive set of services designed to help young people graduate thereby building the confidence to move onto gainful employment or post-secondary education.

The foundation of all JAG programs is the 86 competency curriculum which covers Career Development, Job Attainment Skills, Basic Work Skills, Leadership and Self Development Skills, Personal Growth, Life Survival Skills, and Workplace Survival Skills. Furthermore, students create and lead a student association in which they plan projects that center on community service, leadership and teamwork. To that end, JFG offers the following comprehensive set of services:

  • The Career Coach.
  • Life & Work Skills Literacy (activity and competency based).
  • Student‐Led Leadership Development.
  • Job and Education Transition.
  • Linkages to School and Community‐Based Services.
  • 12‐Month Follow‐up Services.
  • National data tracking system.
  • High Return on Investment.

As a result of the research based model and proven performance, the Urban League named Jobs for America’s Graduates one of the most effective drop‐out prevention programs with some of the highest impacts ever recorded in helping the poorest minority youth from single‐parent homes in getting and keeping a job. The increased value ranges from 40% ‐ 102% academic, work and life skills improvement for economically disadvantaged African American and Hispanic youth.

During the 2007‐08 school year, JFG served over 1100 students of promise. Our Career Coaches devoted over 75,000 of guidance, instruction and remediation to young Floridians. In return, our students devoted nearly 10,000 hours in community service.

JFG operates programs in middle schools, high schools, alternative schools, community colleges, juvenile justice facilities and community based organizations statewide.
